IPL Hair Removal

Can Chromolite™ treat any area

Chromolite™ hair removal can be used to treat any area of the body and on most skin types. Prior to the treatment our trained Chromolite™ operators will discuss in detail how Chromolite™ works and assess if it is suitable for you.

For some clients a test patch will need to be performed to observe the effect. An immediate effect may be seen, although it is not unusual for the hair to take up to 14 days to fall out of the destroyed follicle.

What does the treatment involve?

It is simple, you wear protective eyewear, lie back and relax, while our Chromolite™ operator moves the hand piece slowly over your skin firing the Smartlite™ exactly where required. Chromolite™ is fast too, less than 30 minutes to treat both lower legs.

Most people experience minimum discomfort feeling no more than a slight tingling sensation.

Cooling can be applied to the skin to minimise this sensation.

Vascular Lesions

IPL is useful for the treatment of small broken blood vessels on the face secondary to rosacea, those present around the nose, and cherry angiomas. The light therapy targets the hemoglobin in the vessels and coagulates the vessels. Disappearance of the unwanted vessels and lesions is often immediate. Repeat treatments are often necessary for patients with rosacea.

UNWANTED PIGMENTATION

Sunspots and Melasma

For the treatment of sunspots and unwanted pigmentation, as well as for generalised photorejuvenation of the face, hands, neck or chest, the light treatment focuses energy on the melanosomes, raising the temperature to cause shattering of the pigment inside. The shattered melanin particles are phagocytosed. Initially, the dark spots turn darker or ashy and eventually they crust or flake off of the patient’s body. On average, 3-6 treatments are necessary, but patients tend to notice improvement after each treatment.

It is important for patients to protect their skin from the sun at least 2 weeks before treatment, as sunburn will draw the light therapy into surrounding skin and may cause burns. As well, it is important to protect the skin from sun damage after treatments as sunspots will recur.
